Sodium Hexametaphosphate can be a clear, colorless solution or a white solid powder, neither of which has a distinct odor. Sodium hexametaphosphate or SHMP is insoluble in organic solvents, but miscible in water. It is commonly used as a chelating agent, thickener, emulsifier and thickener, and in various food applications and additives. SHMP is also commonly used as a softener for water and detergents. SHMP helps products maintain quality and stability and prevents fat oxidation in food. Sodium hexametaphosphate has a wide range of uses and applications.

Sodium Hexametaphosphate Uses
Used as a sequeatering,dispersing, deflocculating agent, and as a coating agent to form thin passivating. Film that protects metals from corrosion; Industrial water treatment: and can be used in continuously recycled industrial water as a softener; SHMP is used in the textile industry for industrial cleanning and as dispersion in pigmenting and dyeing operations. It is also used in oil well drilling.
